Every spring semester, Spring Weekend is a great way for Wofford students to celebrate the end of the school year. This year, the events will start Friday, May 5 and continue through Saturday, May 6.
The Spring Concert, hosted by Wofford Live, will start at 7 p.m. the Friday night of Spring Weekend. The main artist will be K Camp and the opener will be Beach Weather.
K Camp is a rap/hip-hop artist most known for creating the viral TikTok song “Lottery (Renegade).”. Beach Weather is most known for their song called “Sex, Drugs, Etc.” Last year’s Spring Concert featured Waka Flocka.
“(Wofford Live) polled the school on genre, and then our committee voted on the artists,” said Izzy Stevenson ‘23, co-chair of Wofford Live.
Most of the school voted on rap/hip-hop as the genre of choice for this year’s Spring Concert, and the committee had a line-up of artists to choose from, but K Camp seemed the most well known among the student body.
Spring Weekend events on Saturday, May 6 will look very similar to last year’s festivities. The Wofford Activities Council has worked to set up many activities to increase student involvement. Activities will take place on the lawn behind the Greek Village.
“We will have food trucks, inflatable water slides, and a dunk tank. Many fraternity and sorority presidents will be able to be dunked in the tank with money going to a charity of their choosing,” said Grace deMaine ‘25.
This year’s charity of choice is going to Camp Kemo in order to help families navigate the struggles of childhood cancer.
Other activities will include a foam machine and a sand volleyball court. Students will be able to form volleyball teams to challenge each other. The Wofford Activities Council encourages students to sign up with teams of at least 3 to 4 players, and the winning team will receive a prize.
“Events were chosen based on previous years,” deMaine explained, but her co-chair EC McClean, who was the mastermind behind the foam, and her own committee helped in picking out the food trucks and the slides.
For seniors, this is their last Spring Weekend on campus and is one of the last big events they will go to in their remaining time as a Wofford Terrier, given that commencement is Sunday, May 21.
“Last year’s Spring Weekend was my favorite one yet, so I am looking forward to my last one this year. It is always a fun time just hanging out with friends on a nice day,” said Abby Landfried ‘23. Landfried, along with many other seniors, can enjoy a day outside with their friends for little to no cost.
T-Shirts for Spring Weekend are on sale now and available for pre-order. Committees involved in Spring Weekend urge students to come and enjoy all that will be available and keep informed on all that is to come through email and social media.
