Terrier Basketball continues to eat up the competition
It’s a beautiful day to be a Terrier Basketball fan. With both teams having wrapped up their home seasons, the men’s and women’s basketball teams combined for just two home losses this season—the Men fell to North Carolina on opening night and the women stumbled against Samford earlier in Feb.
The women have been surging as of late, riding an impressive four-game winning streak to get back into the top half of the Southern Conference. Despite the absence of sophomore Anna Claire Atha and freshman Jackie Carman, the Wofford women’s team has been surging thanks to key contributions from leaders like Da’ja Green. Green has played lights out for the Terriers, flirting with triple-doubles on two separate occasions and tallying double-doubles four times this season. Freshman Niyah Lutz has also been a key part of the Terriers’ winning streak, averaging eight points per game in 13 minutes per game over the past four games. The team currently stands at 15-12 and 7-5 in conference play, good for a two-way tie for third place in the SoCon. In their final two games, the Terriers will hit the road for matches against Samford and Mercer to finish the regular season in early March.
The men have been riding a hot streak that has them sitting atop the SoCon at 24-4 and 16-0 in the SoCon, with their most recent ranking being 24 in the nation! With usual contributions from Fletcher Magee and Cameron Jackson, other key players, like Nathan Hoover and Keve Aluma, have played a pivotal role in propelling the Terriers to incredible heights this season. Hoover has been outstanding in his junior season for the Terriers, shooting a remarkable 44% from behind the arc. Aluma has been all over the glass offensively and defensively, chasing down every rebound and loose ball in his sight, which has allowed the Wofford offense to be prolific this season. The men will round out their season on the road to face Chattanooga and Samford to wrap up the regular season and prepare for the Southern Conference tournament.
The Southern Conference Tournament is scheduled to begin on March 7, 2019 and the women’s Championship game will be played on March 10, while the
