Cell Phone: 1

College Property: 1 (Cummings Street School Building)

Hit & Run of Motor Vehicles: 6

Alcohol: 35

Of the 35 violations, about half of them were in the residence halls and apartments. Seven of these were the second violation for the students, and two were students who were 21 years old. Two of the students were found not guilty in Administrative Court. Two of these violations were given to fraternities and sororities.

Amnesty Contracts for:
Alcohol: 9
Drugs (Marijuana): 2
Vandalism in the Residence Halls: 15

Dean Brian Lemere noted his disappointment with the number of students engaged in acts of vandalism in the residence halls. This number is five times what it was a year ago.

The Judicial System reports that they have had seven Administrative Court hearings, one Appeals Court hearing and no Judicial Court hearings to date this semester. In addition, the Honor Council has found three students guilty of violating the honor code. At this time last year, there were three Administrative Court hearings and three Appeals Court hearings. Dean Matthew Hammett noted that there have been no reports of sexual misconduct.

Director of Campus Safety Randy Hall, Wofford Class of 1983, is pleased to announce that Sergeant Dwayne Harris, Wofford Class of 1986, has been promoted to Lieutenant/Deputy Director. Among his other administrative duties, Harris will focus on crime prevention and safety programs for our campus community.

“I am confident this will improve the department’s mission of protecting our students, employees and visitors,” says Hall.

Harris is working on an automated parking management system that will allow students and employees to pay parking fines online with a bank card.

Please remember that Campus Safety Officers are on duty 24/7. They enjoy the opportunity to give students and employees escorts. Call them anytime at (864) 597- 4911.

Campus Union and Stephanie Vlandis, chair of the facility affairs committee, invite everyone to join them for the bi-annual Lighting Walk with the college staff. It will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, Nov 17 in the lobby of the Olin Building. Please email Vlandis at [email protected] if you cannot participate in the walk, but you believe there is an area which should be considered for new or improved lighting.
