THE 38TH ANNUAL RACE WILL TAKE PLACE SATURDAY, MARCH 28 IN CHARLESTON—

Cooper River Bridge run is a 10k foot race that starts in Mount Pleasant, S.C., and ends in downtown Charleston. Events for the weekend include Taste of the Bridge, the race and the post-race festival.

For dinner Friday evening from 5 – 8 p.m., you can purchase tickets for Taste of the Bridge. There are more than 25 participating restaurants in the event, which will be accessible from three locations in Charleston—downtown, Mount Pleasant and at the Charleston Area Convention Center. The cost is $15 per person, and with your ticket you have the opportunity to sample as much food as you would like from the participating vendors. One vendor is Jim ‘N’ Nick’s Bar-B-Q , which slow-smokes their barbeque for up to 20 hours over low-heat hickory coals. The idea behind Taste of the Bridge is to fuel the runners up for running the next morning, and to allow visitors and locals a chance to taste different restaurants around the area.

The next morning, the race begins at 8 a.m. A festival will follow the race beginning at 9 a.m, which will include entertainment, food vendors and souvenirs. This year, the Wofford Alumni Office is going to be hosting a tent at the finish festival in Marion Square. At the tent, you can receive a free Cooper River Bridge Run t-shirt if you preregister for the shirt.

Wofford students frequently make the 3 hour drive to Charleston for the 10k.

“I ran it for the first time last year as my first official race,” says senior Emily Bacher. “The atmosphere is really electric—there are just thousands of people, bands playing on the side of the road… it gets you amped. I am planning on running it again this year!”

Senior Elizabeth Ramsey shares Bacher’s opinion of the race.

“I would definitely do it again. It was so fun being in a big group of people running 6.2 miles and having a blast. There is always a big group of Wofford people who show up, and the familiar Terrier faces make it even better.”

For $55 you can register for the race at bridgerun.com/register/. You will also find the option on this link to register for Taste of the Bridge and transportation to your car for when you complete the run.
