Equestrian team already halfway through spring season
Equestrian team already halfway through spring season

By: Sarah Madden, Senior Writer

Four members of the equestrian team competed at Lander University on Saturday, Jan. 30. It was the team’s first competition of the spring, and attendance was low due to the academic break between Interim and spring semester. This spring will be the team’s busiest to date, with three competitions held in just four weeks.

As usual, random horse assignments played an important role in the success of the riders, says Abby Umberger ’17:

“We had some tough draws. Rhiannon [Lemaster ’19] even had to change horses in the middle of a class! Overall we had a great day, despite the stats.”

Results:

Crawford Anderson ’18: 5th place on the flat in the open division AND 2nd place over fences in the open division

Umberger: 2nd place on the flat in the novice division

Sarah Madden ’17: 5th place on the flat in the advanced walk trot canter division

At the time of publication, the team will have just competed at Georgia Southern University on Feb. 6, and the subsequent competition will be held at Clemson on Feb. 20. The team invites the Wofford community to attend this “home” show and will be releasing more details shortly via the daily announcement e-mails and their Facebook page, “Wofford College IHSA Equestrian Team.”
