Return of the Wofford Wrap, now Wofford Wrap
Since 1915, the Old Gold and Black
“My vision for what I’m starting now is slightly different,” Newton said. “I want the Wofford News Network to be structured similarly to prominent online news media productions. I want to cover the biggest on-campus stories; however, a majority of the broadcast time will be allocated to covering national and international stories of prominence.”
Newton’s new plan for the reformed Wofford Wrap includes occasional collaboration with the Old Gold and Black, which is something that he felt was lacking in the first iteration of the organization.
Newton: “Digital and Print media are often seen as enemies today, and I didn’t want to start an organization that was in competition with another for stories, people’s interest, and people’s time. … I saw an opportunity for collaboration that could be useful for both of us. While I certainly want to maintain the autonomy of both organizations, I think being open to collaboration will be great for both of us.”
Any students who are interested in being a part of this organization can contact Matthew Newton at [email protected]. He will spend the remainder of the semester raising awareness and support for the Wofford News Network, as he plans to launch the Network in the fall.
