As many Wofford students come and go, there remains one constant on the campus: the wonderful face and the always delicious food of Catherine Young, more commonly known as Ms. Cathy.

Since the beginning of the fall 2021 semester, she was not at her usual spot inside of Burwell and many students began to worry.

But Ms. Cathy has returned to everyone on campus’s excitement.

Ms. Cathy can be found behind the crepe station on the tiresome mornings when Wofford students attend Burwell.

However, no matter the tiredness or stress from academics, Ms. Cathy is always there to brighten someone’s day.

“The opportunity to meet young people from all over the world is my favorite part about Wofford,” said Ms. Cathy. “…To be able to serve them and be a small part of their journey.”

Any student who has had the pleasure of meeting her knows Ms. Cathy’s selflessness and constant dedication to make students’ days on campus just a little bit easier.

Sara Guerry ‘22 said the reason she loves Ms. Cathy so much is that she“always greets me with a smile and asks me how my weekend, week etc. was.

“(She) makes the best omelet this side of the Mississippi,” said Guerry.

Sopharvathdy Vorn ‘22 said that her favorite thing about Ms. Cathy is that “she knows everyone’s name on campus, and no matter the time of day or how busy Burwell is, she takes the time to speak with you and form a deeper relationship than the occasional hello.”

Since being back this semester, Ms. Cathy has brought a lot of smiles to many faces.

“Students are always warm, loving and appreciative of the hard work that I do for them, which gives me the inspiration to do my best for them,” said Ms. Cathy. “They are truly my lifeline at work.”

To have Ms.Cathy back is a blessing, especially in a time where the sense of normalcy is returning to Wofford’s campus.

“Just seeing everyone’s smiling faces in the morning at Burwell and at lunch makes me happy. Thank you for thinking of (me),” said Ms. Cathy.
