Black, Gold, and Fun All Over

Black%2C+Gold%2C+and+Fun+All+Over

As interim comes to an end and the spring semester takes off, it can be easy for Wofford students to fall into a state of stress. They are forced to get back to the daily grind of 4 plus classes and countless hours of homework per week. These common college struggles make it difficult for students to acquire free time, but if given the chance in the first few weeks of a new semester to get together with friends and have some fun, Wofford Terriers take full advantage of the opportunity.

Every year, to both kick off the spring semester and welcome back those who spent interim abroad, the members of WAC put together an evening filled with music, dancing, refreshments, and quality bonding time with fellow friends and classmates. This is an event that all Wofford students have come to know and love, and this year was no exception. The annual Black and Gold Ball had an even larger turnout than usual and was truly a hit for all Wofford students who were in attendance.

The Ball began at 9:00pm in Phase V’s Galleria, but most T-dogs made a fashionably late appearance and flooded in around 9:30. The sound of clicking heels and laughter filled the space as a herd of Wofford females marched into the galleria in their semi formal attire. Similarly, Wofford men cleaned up nicely as well and rocked the blazer and dress pant look.

A crowd of people made their way around the food table, which included all sorts of appetizers from empanadas to veggie kabobs, and of course ended with a dessert section — chocolate fondue. This station was a hit, and all throughout the night, students could be found both on the dance floor and enjoying some chocolate covered fruit and other tasty treats!

A large white tent extended from the galleria doors forming a designated dance floor in front of the stage that the band was performing on. The style of music changed throughout the night with the mood of the dancing crowd. A large variety of songs were played ranging from some Bruno Mars classics, such as “24K Magic,” to Wofford’s very own student made band — “13 Friday’s.” It seemed as if the dancing never ceased, in fact, most Black and Gold attenders had a difficult time even maneuvering off the dance floor it was so packed.

As the clock struck midnight, students weren’t ready for the party to be over. In fact, the majority of the crowd did not call it a night until after 1:00am!  When they were finally all danced out, Wofford’s very own could be seen leaving Phase V’s Galleria smiling from ear to ear. There is no question that 2019 can be considered another year of pure success for Wofford’s annual Black and Gold Ball.
