All the Halloween festivities you won’t want to miss
It’s finally starting to feel like sweater weather outside as spooky season is slowly creeping up on us, so it seems only right to take advantage of the fall breeze and autumn leaves and trick-or-treat yourself to all of the hocus pocus you can! Spartanburg is forever oozing with festivals and activities of all kinds, and Halloween is no different!
Kicking off the festivities here in Sparkle City is the 2018 Monster Dash at 7:00 p.m. on Oct. 26. This event, hosted at RJ Rockers Brewing Company Taproom, is a 0.1-mile fun run. Participants dress in costumes and benefit Christmas in Action Spartanburg, an organization that provides hope through action for the low-income, elderly and disabled home-owners in communities all across Spartanburg County. So, not only is this event supporting a great cause, but with local food trucks and live music from On the Rocks, it is also going to be super fun! Mark your calendars, get your best costume and go have a great evening downtown!
Next on the list is FR8yard’s first ever Halloween Bash—FRIGHTyard! With live music, costume contests, beer bobbing and classic horror movies on the big screen, this is an event you definitely won’t want to miss. At FR8yard’s very first Halloween throwdown, held on the evening of Halloween itself, guests can prepare for a night including freaky fun games such as “eyeball beer pong,” pumpkin carving contests and virtual reality stations. Rumor has it there will also be a full-length screening of Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller” on the twenty-foot jumbotron!
As these two events are considerably more focused on being fun than freaky, we can’t forget about the events that will provide us with the ultimate haunted adventure.
Throughout the month of October, there are lots of haunted-house-like weekend excursions in and around Spartanburg that are sure to give you the chills, but there is one that is particularly popular and frightening: The Fear Farm. Located in Blacksburg, South Carolina, The Fear Farm that has been voted the area’s scariest haunted house five years in a row, and is only a thirty-minute drive from Wofford. For only $20, participants have access to all five haunted attractions found at the farm including Ringmaster’s Circus Academy, Dr. Feelgood’s House of Dentistry, and, of course, The Farm House. Considered to be one of the top haunted adventures in the Carolinas, this terrifying place is sure to guarantee you a night you won’t forget! So grab your black cats and broomsticks because this Halloween is bound to be exceptionally spook-tacular!
